Hipsters, hippies, surfers, you and me. Abbot Kinney. A unique place.

As you know, I love Los Angeles. The city of Angels has so much to offer! One of my favorite places to be is Abbot Kinney Boulevard, a street in Venice with local designers, lovely shops, cafés, great restaurants, book shops, modern houses next to old style beach houses. When you are sick of big malls with chain stores and a crowded touristy 3rd Street Promenade, then this is your place!

My favorite clothing store on Abbot Kinney is Aviator Nation (1224 Abbot Kinney).

They sell high quality sweatpants, t-shirts, tops, hoodies, caps,… which are SO soft, colorful and comfy! I got my first AN tank top from my boyfriend. It’s turquoise with “SURF MUSIC LOVE” printed on the front. If I could I’d wear it every day ;)

I have to admit, the clothes are expensive, but really worth it’s price.

Another great shop is TOMS (1344 Abbot Kinney). It is half shop, half café and really nice to hang out!

When you purchase a product at the store (or online), TOMS will help a person in need. When you buy shoes, a pair of shoes is given to an impoverished child, when you buy sunglasses, eye-care is given to a child through prescription glasses, sight-saving surgery or medical treatment. Compliments to TOMS - I like the “ONE for ONE” business model!

The flagship store on Abbot Kinney offers a full range of TOMS products. You can also have a juice or coffee in the enclosed back porch and hang out with friends. Great place, ha?

Abbot's Habit

For trendy food, coffee and juices visit Abbot’s Habit (1407 Abbot Kinney)! Last time I was there I had a fresh juice “very verde” (so delicious!!) and one of their signature sandwiches “california combo” with tuna and avocado (even more deliciousssss). The staff is very friendly and the crowd seems to be local, great atmosphere, fun place. It is definitely worth a visit!

And then there is this coffee place…when we walked by there was a long line of people waiting to get in. Intelligentsia Coffee (1331 Abbot Kinney). What was so special here? So we stopped and waited in line and I have to say it was worth the hassle!!

Intelligentsia Coffee

My boyfriend had a coffee, I had a chai latte. Both was so good! I also ordered a croissant (I think it was an almond croissant) which was a bit too sweet but very tasty. The interior is very clean, industrial, with lots of metal and wood. I think it’s a perfect combination. Unfortunately it is hard to get a seat here.  Apart from this - hands down, the best coffee bar in Venice!

Oh, did you know Robert Downey Jr. owns a house on Abbot Kinney? Another good reason to spend your time there…maybe there comes the day when he is standing next to you in line at Intelligentsia Coffee ;)
