Eat smart for a healthier brain.

Aloha birdies!

I am very busy with studying at the moment and that's why I didn't post much lately. So sorrrrrrry!

University = first priority for the next days. I know. Boooohh.

But I have a minute to catch my breath and to write a blog post :)

Sitting over my books all day, sipping on my green tea and snacking the ultimate trail mix. YES!

Keyword: brain food.

Loss of memory is a common complaint due to old age and the process of brain activity. Best is to work against this, right? Here are some:

Blueberries aka brainberries!
Ok, all kinds of berries, but especially blueberries. They improve learning capacity and help protect the brain from oxidative stress and may reduce the effects of e.g. dementia.

Nuts and seeds
very good sources of vitamin E and this high level of vitamin E corresponds with less cognitive decline
monounsaturated fat in avocados contributes to healthy blood flow. Healthy blood flow means a healthy brain.

Rule no. 1 of brain nutrition is hydration!

I love high energy snack food. Trail mix. Nuts and dried fruits. Oh, be sure you don't overdo it with nuts as they are high in calories.

My favorite kinda trail mix is called "Caribic Royal" by Seeberger. It contains cashews, almonds, dried mango and papaya, dried pineapple, raisins and coconut chips. Yummie!
I could eat the whole package at once, no kidding....I never did, but I could, Definitely. So good. This mix is SO DELICIOUS! Eat it once and you gonna be sick for it!

And now, birdies, enjoy the weekend. I will rush to my desk and to my beloved books...
